The Seniors Card encourages older Victorians to keep active and engaged in the community through offers and incentives that make it affordable to get out and about.

To apply for a Seniors Card you need to be over 60 years of age, a permanent resident of Australia, residing in Victoria.

If you are working less than 35 hours per week in paid employment, or fully retired - apply for a Seniors Card.
If you are working more than 35 hours per week - apply for the Seniors Business Discount Card.

If you have a Seniors Card, you are eligible for free or concession public transport, and are exempt from a fishing license in Victoria.

All card holders can take advantage of discounts and services from businesses via our Discount Directory.

Look out for the 'Seniors Card Welcome Here' logo or ask for Seniors Card discounts when you are shopping.

What is the Seniors Card program?

Commencing in 1991, the Seniors Card program acknowledges and celebrates the contribution seniors have made and continue to make to our communities and the State of Victoria. The purpose of the program is to encourage older people to keep active and engaged in the community, by providing incentives and making it more affordable to get out and about.

The Seniors Card program is free, and there are no application charges associated with the card.

Information on the Seniors Card program

To apply for either a Seniors Card or a Seniors Business Discount Card, simply use our Online form.

Make sure you have your green Medicare Card handy to complete your application. This is a free card. There are no costs associated with applying for this card.

Applicants for a Victorian Seniors Card only (i.e. not Seniors Business Discount Card) can also pick up an application form from their local library. All paper application forms (not online form) require a statutory declaration which must be witnessed.

Standard processing time is around four weeks from when we receive your application. You can apply around three weeks before your 60th birthday. The card is free and there is no cost to apply.

Additional information about benefits for card holders is available in Other program benefits information page. Only Victorian Seniors Card holders are eligible for public transport concessions and seniors fares.
When you travel interstate, please take your Seniors Card with you. All states and territories in Australia accept interstate Seniors Cards for concession travel. Most interstate businesses and participating businesses in New Zealand also accept the Victorian Seniors Card. Please contact Seniors Card program in the States and Territories that you intend to visit for benefits offered to Victorian Seniors Card holders.

Interstate and New Zealand participating businesses are encouraged to extend their offers to Seniors Business Discount Card holders, however it is up to each individual business to decide what discounts they make available to Seniors Business Discount Card holders.
