About COTA Victoria
The Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria is the peak not-for-profit organisation representing the interests and rights of people aged 50 plus in Victoria.
COTA Victoria leads government, corporate and community thinking about the positive aspects of ageing. COTA Victoria's focus is on advocacy, policy development, education and promoting opportunities for, and protecting the rights of, older Victorians.
COTA offers a range of free and low-cost services and activities including:
- Living Longer Living Stronger (LLLS) a strength, balance and flexibility exercise program, which supports older Australians to live healthy lives doing the activities they love!
- The COTA WISE outreach and free telephone information, support and referral services covering a range of issues that impact older Victorians.
- Services to help people navigate Australia's complex aged care system and to support older Victorians find and continue in employment. More information on the Aged Care Navigator Service can be found on the COTA website.
- Older Men: New Ideas (OM:NI), COTA Victoria's network of community-based discussion groups which provide a safe place for older men to meet in an informal social environment to share their knowledge and experiences.
- Seniors Rights Victoria, which provides information, support, advice, and education to help prevent elder abuse and safeguard the rights, dignity and independence of older people.
- Policy, publications, and education programs on a range of topics and issues, such as aged care quality and safety, assistive technology, elder abuse, mental health, energy, end of life, COVID-19, ageism and social isolation.
